STARFLEET Marine Corps Major Scott Dayman passed away on September 27, 2022, at the age of 53. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 25 years, Leanne Dayman; his son, Scott Magnusson of Winnipeg; and his Father, Robert Dayman. Scott was pre-deceased by his Mother, Lynn Dayman.

Scott was born in Victoria BC but was raised in Cold Lake on the military base. He later moved to Calgary with his family where he spent his remaining years. Scott had a passion for flying, successfully obtaining his private pilot license at the age of sixteen before even graduating high school.

In 1978 Scott started to learn how to play the bagpipes with Fraser's Highlanders under the tutelage of Pipe Major Harry Brown. In 1987, Scott got to go to Edinburgh Tattoo with cadets from across Canada to form a pipe band. He was asked to be the backup for Lone Piper while he was over there. Scott then left the Fraser's and went to 781 “Calgary” Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets (RCAirC).

Scott's fondest memory is playing his bagpipes on Scotland field. Which he always called it home. In the late 1980’s, Scott joined the Calgary Highlanders which allowed him to travel to Scotland again in 2000.

Scott later joined 604 “Moose” Squadron RCAirC as a Cadet Instructor and later served as an officer with both 538 “Buffalo” and 781 Squadrons. During his time with the Air Cadets, Scott did many projects, including teaching and setting up pipe bands. Scott quickly moved through the ranks to become a Captain.

Scott loved travelling (especially Scotland), music, movies, aircraft, and air shows. He enjoyed attending entertainment expo's and had a love for the Middle Ages. He was a member of the Society of Creative of Anachronism where he was known as Andrew Wilson of Clan Gunn, recreating scenarios from the Middle Ages.

Scott is also known for his participation with the USS Chinook, a chapter of STARFLEET, the International Star Trek Fan Association. He had been recently promoted to Major and was as the Deputy Officer In Charge of the 10 Brigade, STARFLEET Marine Corps. His last mission was at to Edmonton Expo in September 2022.

For his dedicated service to STARFLEET, Major Scott Dayman was posthumously promoted to Colonel.
